Police Respond To Potential Active Shooter at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe; Highway 50 Reopens After Closure

NEVADA – Highway 50 in Nevada has been reopened after being closed in both directions due to police activity at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. The police were responding to a potential active shooter in the area of Stateline, and one person was reported to have been shot and is being transported to a hospital. The suspect, who is believed to have been driving a white Toyota 4-Runner with two occupants, was pulled over on US50, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office reportedly has a suspect in custody. Law enforcement is searching for any other potential victims, and guests at the Hard Rock are being told to continue sheltering in place until the building can be swept. Nearby businesses have been allowed to reopen. Multiple agencies, including Carson, are responding, and additional SWAT units are inbound.
