Reno Man Convicted of Child Abuse and Domestic Battery After Two-Day Trial

Reno, Nevada -A jury has convicted Steven McLaughlin, a resident of Reno, on charges of child abuse and domestic battery. The trial, which spanned two days, concluded with this significant decision by the Washoe County District Court.
The convictions stem from a distressing incident that unfolded in November 2022, sending shockwaves through the community. According to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, McLaughlin was found guilty of child abuse against his own 12-year-old son and domestic battery against his wife.
During the trial, prosecutors presented compelling evidence that revealed a harrowing sequence of events. McLaughlin was accused of screaming at his child and subjecting him to physical violence, causing the young boy to fall to the ground.
