Saturday’s Death of a Washoe County Detention Facility Inmate Prompted an Investigation
NEVADA – A prisoner was discovered deceased in their cell at the Washoe County Detention Facility on Saturday, prompting an investigation.
On November 12, deputies discovered 57-year-old Lorin Gross dead in his cell shortly after 11 a.m.
Gross was arrested the previous day by the Sparks Police Department for indecent exposure.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office stated that the 57-year-old was booked and fingerprinted. Friday at 4:50 p.m., he was given a medical examination by a nurse, his mugshot was taken, he took a shower, and he was placed in a cell by himself.
Gross ate breakfast had approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday and spoke with a deputy during an 8:50 a.m. regular check.
Gross was discovered unresponsive just after 11 a.m., and resuscitation measures were futile.
Detectives inspected the area and discovered no signs of criminal activity or foul play. His cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
