LAS VEGAS, NV — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives have formally apprehended and booked a 39-year-old suspect following a violent, targeted parking lot ambush that left one man dead and a woman injured.

The capture concludes an aggressive multi-day tracking sweep by uniform patrol officers and tactical units across the northeast valley.

The Parking Lot Confrontation

The suspect, identified as Abdul Muhammad, 39, was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC). Muhammad faces multiple heavy felony counts, including open murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

The booking stems from a violent dispute that manifested on Thursday, June 18, 2026, within a commercial plaza parking lot located on the 4900 block of East Craig Road. According to field command logs, Muhammad engaged in a severe verbal altercation with a couple who were standing near their vehicle. The argument quickly escalated when Muhammad abruptly drew a firearm and unleashed a succession of close-range rounds directly into the victims before fleeing the area.

UMC Treatment and Tactical Capture

Northeast patrol officers arrived at the Craig Road commercial property to find two victims on the asphalt. The adult male victim sustained catastrophic gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene by arriving emergency medical personnel. The female victim, who suffered less severe gunshot wounds to her extremities, was stabilized by paramedics before being transported to University Medical Center (UMC) for specialized trauma treatment.

Homicide detectives assumed control of the scene, utilizing property security networks and witness statements to isolate Muhammad’s vehicle and travel patterns. Tactical teams successfully intercepted Muhammad a short distance away, taking him into custody. The identity of the deceased male victim remains withheld pending an official autopsy and relative notification timeline by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
