LAS VEGAS, NV — Drivers navigating the persistent highway bottleneck west of downtown Las Vegas are set to receive early relief, with state transportation officials confirming an accelerated completion schedule for the Interstate 11 Active Traffic Management Project.

According to updated project timelines from the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), nearly four miles of restricted High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes between the Spaghetti Bowl interchange and Rainbow Boulevard are tentatively scheduled to reopen in September.

The $22 million technology deployment equips the heavily traveled suburban corridor with seven overhead active traffic management gantries. Similar to system installations deployed along Interstate 15 during Project Neon, the electronic video displays relay real-time traffic conditions, automated crash warnings, and dynamic lane assignment cues to prevent secondary collisions.

State officials acknowledged that closing HOV lanes during hardware installation created significant peak-hour delays, prompting contractor crews to work expedited schedules to complete electrical integration.

“They’re working as fast as they can,” stated Nevada Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony, who serves as vice chairman of the NDOT Board of Directors. “This is a big priority for us. We know that’s a major corridor, so we’re working as quick as we can.”
