Zoox Launches Paid Driverless Robotaxi Pickups and Drop-Offs at Harry Reid International Airport

LAS VEGAS, NV — In a major expansion of commercial autonomous transit in Southern Nevada, Amazon subsidiary Zoox has officially launched paid driverless robotaxi service at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).

The move introduces the nation’s first purpose-built commercial robotaxi service to one of the busiest passenger aviation hubs in the United States, allowing travelers to book on-demand rides between airport terminal curbs and the Las Vegas Strip.

Curbside Ground Transportation Access

The deployment gives Zoox a distinct operational advantage over legacy rideshare operators. While passengers using Uber and Lyft must walk through pedestrian walkways to designated parking garage pickup floors, the Clark County Department of Aviation integrated Zoox directly into ground-level commercial transit lanes.

At Terminal 1, arriving passengers descend from baggage claim to the Zero Level near the E Gates, where vehicles pull into a dedicated ground-transportation island. At Terminal 3, riders exit through Door 55 onto the second outer commercial island to board.

Zoox vehicles are bi-directional electric pods featuring carriage-style face-to-face seating for four passengers.

Because the vehicles lack a conventional trunk, luggage is stored directly on the cabin floorboard, with safety regulations limiting bag height to 28 inches.

Regulatory Green Light and Fleet Scaling

The commercial airport expansion follows federal regulatory exemptions granted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), allowing Zoox to transport paying passengers in vehicles built without conventional human manual controls.
