LAS VEGAS, NV — A Las Vegas family has filed an 80-page civil lawsuit in Clark County District Court against gaming giant Roblox Corporation, accusing the tech platform of systemic design defects and negligence after an online predator allegedly exploited in-game communication features to groom and send sexually explicit content to a 9-year-old girl for nearly two years.
The complaint, filed on behalf of a local couple identified in court filings as John and Mary Doe to protect the child’s identity, outlines an extensive pattern of alleged child exploitation that originated inside the platform’s popular user-generated experiences.
According to the complaint, the young girl first encountered the unnamed adult predator on Roblox in 2021.The lawsuit alleges that the perpetrator subsequently sent sexually explicit photographs and videos—including recordings of himself performing solo sex acts—continuing across multiple communications through 2023.

Allegations of Flawed Architecture and Unchecked Access
At the heart of the 80-page filing is the assertion that Roblox’s platform architecture fundamentally fails to safeguard young children despite aggressive public branding promoting parental controls and safety mechanisms.
Attorneys for the family argue that Roblox continues to permit adult accounts to communicate directly with young minors within active game spaces and public chat rooms.
The complaint characterizes this design as a structural blueprint that predators exploit to identify, isolate, and groom children through titles widely known to attract elementary-school-aged players.
The lawsuit further contends that even when corporate safety adjustments or parental control tiers were introduced, the platform left open pathways for adults to initiate contact, transition conversations, and maintain coercive contact without immediate automated intervention or law enforcement escalation.
The legal action alleges the young Las Vegas girl suffered severe emotional distress, trauma, and lasting psychological injury as a result of the exposure.
The Las Vegas filing adds to a mounting wave of state and federal regulatory scrutiny and civil lawsuits challenging how digital multiplayer environments protect underage audiences from predatory abuse.

The complaint does not detail whether separate criminal charges have been filed against the individual predator, centering its focus strictly on holding the platform accountable for product design and user safety failures.
Roblox Corporation has not yet formally answered the complaint in Clark County District Court.
The company has previously maintained that it deploys advanced automated text filters and human moderation teams to intercept inappropriate communications and prevent the sharing of harmful material.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, alongside court-ordered mandates requiring Roblox to overhaul how adults and minors interact across its digital servers.
