Woman Charged in a Fatal DUI Crash Had Drugs in Her Car, NHP says

BOULDER CITY, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a controlled drug and marijuana were discovered inside the automobile driven by a woman now charged with DUI in the death of a Henderson teen last week.

Taylor Madison, 24, was detained on September 26 after reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road. Katarina Kasi Johnson, 18, was killed in an accident on Highway 95 in the Boulder City area.

Madison’s black Hyundai Genesis collided with Johnson’s red Nissan Versa approximately 12:30 a.m. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Madison informed officers that Vicodin had been mixed into her drink. According to a Nevada Highway Patrol arrest record, she was transferred to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena campus, to have her blood drawn.

In Madison’s car, an NHP trooper discovered a baggie containing a white powdery material suspected to be a prohibited drug. According to the report, the trooper also discovered marijuana in the car.

Madison has been charged with DUI resulting in death, as well as misdemeanor counts of failing to maintain lanes and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Madison was still being held on $50,000 bond as of late Tuesday. She is scheduled to appear in court on October 11.
