Reno Fire Department Asks Public for Help in Finding Multiple Arsonists

NEVADA – The Reno Fire Department is seeking assistance from the public in locating the person or persons responsible for setting multiple fires across the city. According to investigators, at least eight fires were intentionally set in various locations between Sunday, April 30, and Monday, May 1.

The fires were reported at the following locations on Sunday, April 30:

• 6th and Virginia Street: Vegetation and planter box fire at 3:30 p.m.
• 38 E. Second Street: Dumpster fire at 4:40 p.m.
• Lake and 1st Street: Dumpster fire at 4:32 p.m.
• 100 S. Virginia Street: Vegetation fire at 6:30 p.m.
• 225 W. 5th Street: Multiple sets to personal storage outside the Gatekeeper Inn at 10:50 p.m.
• 4800 Kietzke Lane: Vegetation fire (10 feet by 10 feet) at 11:20 p.m.
• 4995 S. Virginia Street: Vegetation fire (15 by 4 feet) at 11:44 p.m.

On Monday, May 1, another fire was reported at Kietzke and Neil Road, with a vegetation fire covering 1/10th of an acre at 02:41 a.m.

Fire investigators have confirmed that the fires were intentionally set and may be linked. The Reno Fire Department has asked anyone with information to contact them at 775-334-2300 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.

The authorities have not yet identified any suspects, and it remains unclear if the fires were set by a single individual or a group of people. The Reno Fire Department has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
