WestStar Credit Union in Nevada has clarified that the recent disruptions in its online banking services were the result of a temporary internet outage and are not linked to a cybersecurity attack on MGM Resorts, which occurred during the same period. Megan Pieper, Vice President of Marketing and eCommerce for WestStar Credit Union, emphasized that the incident had no connection to a data breach.
Pieper explained that the disruption was primarily caused by the unexpected internet outage, resulting in a temporary loss of connectivity that affected the credit union’s ability to provide seamless online banking services to its members. A team of IT professionals has been diligently working to resolve the issue and restore full access to the online banking platform.
Despite the inconvenience caused by the interruption, the credit union remains committed to ensuring the security of its members’ confidential information. Numerous measures are in place to safeguard member data, and no unauthorized access or data breaches were detected during the incident.
WestStar Credit Union has pledged to keep its members informed about the progress of the resolution efforts and any additional measures that may be implemented to enhance online banking services.
