Two separate incidents in the Las Vegas Valley on Monday night resulted in tragic deaths.

DUI Crash Claims Pedestrian’s Life

A woman in her 30s lost her life after being struck by a car while crossing Las Vegas Boulevard North near Carey Avenue. The incident occurred around 8:00 pm. Police believe the driver of the Hyundai Sonata, 63-year-old Timmy Cormier, was speeding and possibly impaired at the time of the collision. The woman was transported to UMC where she succumbed to her injuries.

Cormier was arrested and faces charges of DUI resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance, and intoxicated person in possession of a firearm.

Neighborly Dispute Ends in Shooting

A seemingly ordinary argument between neighbors in a Summerlin neighborhood escalated to a fatal shooting. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police (LVMPD) responded to a call on Starline Meadow Place near Lake Mead Boulevard and Hills Center Drive at approximately 7:07 pm.

According to LVMPD Lieutenant Jason Johansson, one neighbor allegedly brandished a firearm throughout the verbal altercation. The situation culminated in the suspect shooting his neighbor, a man in his 40s, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect’s wife contacted 911 during the argument and the gunshots were reportedly audible on the call.

The suspect surrendered to police upon their arrival and currently awaits booking into the Clark County Detention Center.

These incidents highlight the tragic consequences that can unfold from impaired driving and unresolved conflict.

The LVMPD asks anyone with information regarding these cases to contact the Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (702) 385-5555.
