Las Vegas paid tribute to a true music legend on Sunday as Rock Hall of Famer and long-time resident Billy Gibbons was honored at City Hall. Mayor Pro Tem Brian Knudsen presented the iconic guitarist and vocalist with a special proclamation, recognizing his contributions to music and his connection to the Las Vegas community.
Gibbons’ career began with the band Moving Sidewalks, where he opened for the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience. He later co-founded the legendary rock group ZZ Top in 1969 in Houston, Texas. Known for hits like Sharp Dressed Man and their unique blues-rock style, ZZ Top remains one of the most influential bands in rock history.
Aside from his music, Gibbons is celebrated for his unmistakable style, including his trademark beard, which has become synonymous with his larger-than-life persona.
