Titus, Lee, and Horsford Vote for Higher Taxes, Fewer Jobs, and a Stalled Economy

A new report from the Tax Foundation reveals just how much Nevada families are losing thanks to the tax-and-spend agenda of Nevada Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford. By opposing a slate of commonsense, pro-family, pro-business tax cuts, Nevada’s Democratic representatives blocked savings of up to $4,220 per taxpayer—real relief that hardworking Nevadans desperately need as the cost of living continues to soar.
Instead of siding with their constituents, Titus, Lee, and Horsford aligned themselves with Washington Democrats to oppose expanding the child tax credit, supporting pro-business policies, and enacting straightforward measures like eliminating taxes on tips, cutting taxes on overtime pay, and delivering long-overdue Social Security tax relief. These reforms, championed by Republicans, would have put more money in the pockets of working families across Nevada.
But Nevada Democrats chose a different path. Titus, Lee, and Horsford voted with the far-left to pave the way for the largest tax hike since World War II, a radical agenda that economists warn will kill jobs, drive businesses away, and further squeeze families already struggling to make ends meet.
A Tax Agenda That Hurts Nevada
The Tax Foundation’s analysis underscores just how damaging Nevada Democrats’ priorities are. In a state built on service workers and small businesses, eliminating the tax on tips alone would have provided enormous relief to hospitality employees, restaurant staff, and other tipped workers who form the backbone of Nevada’s economy.
Similarly, cutting taxes on overtime would have rewarded those working extra shifts to support their families, while reducing Social Security taxes would have offered immediate help to Nevada’s seniors living on fixed incomes. Together, these reforms represented a comprehensive effort to help every segment of Nevada’s population.
Instead, Titus, Lee, and Horsford backed a Washington tax scheme that prioritizes bloated government spending and ideological pet projects over the needs of everyday Nevadans.
NRCC: “Addicted to Taxes”
Republicans wasted no time blasting Nevada’s Democratic delegation for their record. “Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford aren’t just out of touch, they are addicted to taxing working families,” said NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez. “Instead of giving Nevada taxpayers a break, Titus, Lee, and Horsford would rather bleed them dry. It’s clear that Titus, Lee and Horsford’s loyalties lie with radical liberal Democrats, not Nevada’s hardworking families.”
The message is clear: while Nevada families cry out for relief, their Democratic representatives are committed to pushing a Washington-first agenda that ignores local needs.
Political Fallout in Nevada
Nevada’s economy remains uniquely sensitive to national tax policy. With tourism, hospitality, and small businesses driving much of the state’s economic activity, punitive tax hikes could devastate employers and employees alike. Already, the state faces high housing costs, elevated gas prices, and one of the slowest economic recoveries in the West.
By turning their backs on reforms that would have saved families thousands, Titus, Lee, and Horsford are gambling with Nevada’s economic future. Voters are left wondering why their representatives sided with Washington elites over Nevada workers, families, and retirees.
As the 2026 election cycle heats up, Nevada Republicans are likely to seize on this contrast. On one side: a Democratic delegation determined to raise taxes and grow government. On the other: a Republican vision focused on lowering costs, creating jobs, and empowering families to achieve the American Dream.
For Nevada families struggling under the weight of inflation and rising costs, that contrast couldn’t be clearer.
