The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the event occurred around noon, with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police reporting that both individuals were transported from the scene in critical condition.

According to the FAA, its role in such investigations is limited to examining the packing of both the main and reserve parachutes, as well as reviewing the flight procedures for the pilot and aircraft.
