Lombardo Promises Jobs Galore – Why Nevada’s Economy Still Feels Like a Bust

Opinion: This is Part 3 of our 10-part series, “Lombardo’s Nevada Showdown: The Fight for 2026.”

Problem time: Nevada’s economy is rebounding post-COVID, but inflation and other factors are squeezing tourism and mining, leaving folks in Vegas and rural spots wondering if growth trickles down. Conflict arises as Democrats, including Ford, blast Lombardo for downplaying tariff hits, per an April 2025 Nevada Current report, while his economic bill stalled on key points like film tax credits.

Solution mode: Lombardo pushed a May 2025 economic development bill offering $12 million in tax credits for child care and high-tech firms, as covered by other media reports, creating jobs without massive giveaways. He deserves credit for focusing on rural housing and workforce training, steering clear of bloated subsidies, but to win 2026, he should expand apprenticeships statewide, proving he’s the economic fixer over Ford’s vague promises, by tying it to his sheriff-era efficiency. Improve with data-driven town halls on job stats.

Public safety’s up next – stick around for Part 4 to find out if Lombardo’s lawman roots are his ace or his Achilles’ heel.
