House Republicans Are Lapping Democrats at Every Turn

This week we hit the one year out from the 2026 elections and Republicans have the clear momentum. From record-breaking fundraising to a shifting political environment and sharper messaging, the GOP is firing on all cylinders while Democrats are running on fumes.
For the first time in a decade, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has outraised its Democrat counterpart, the DCCC, through the first three quarters of the election cycle. The last time that happened was 2015 the same cycle Republicans went on to win the House, Senate, and the White House.
Compared to this point in 2017, the NRCC has raised $20 million more and holds $7.5 million more cash on hand. Meanwhile, Democrats are going backward. The DCCC is actually raising less than it did in 2023 – a clear sign of a party running out of steam and enthusiasm.
Republicans are on offense and Democrats are out of gas “House Republicans are lapping Democrats at every turn. Voters across the country are fired up to build on this momentum and leave Democrats in the dust,” said NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez.
That energy gap extends to candidates themselves. Swing-district Republicans have outraised vulnerable Democrats for three straight quarters — historic momentum heading into 2026. On average, GOP “Patriots” (the NRCC’s most competitive incumbents) have raised $763,000 with $2.4 million cash on hand, compared to Democrat “Frontliners” at $664,000 raised and $1.6 million cash on hand.
In short: Republicans are building stronger campaigns, faster, and Democrats are falling behind. The political winds are shifting. The national environment for Republicans continues to improve and fast. The Real Clear Politics average for the Generic Congressional Ballot sits at just D+2.4%, compared to D+9.0% at this same point in 2017.
The GOP’s image has also strengthened dramatically. In 2017, CNN polling showed Republicans at a 29% favorable to 62% unfavorable rating a brutal margin. Today, we’ve improved 18 points, sitting at 36% favorable and 51% unfavorable. Democrats, on the other hand, have seen their image worsen by 9 points over the same period.
Gallup’s data tells a similar story: In 2017, voters gave Democrats a 7-point edge on handling “the most important problem facing the U.S.” Today, that edge has nearly evaporated, down to just 2 points. The public doesn’t trust Democrats any more than Republicans, and they trust Republicans far more than they used to.
Even worse for the left, Americans increasingly believe Democrats are out of touch with their lives. Nearly 70% of voters now say the Democratic Party is disconnected from the issues that matter most a double-digit increase over the past decade.
While Democrats are losing the fundraising battle, they’re also losing the argument. The ongoing government shutdown, driven by Democrat political theater, has exposed deep divisions in their ranks. Unions are turning on them, and their own members are admitting it’s all about political “leverage.”
At the same time, Democrats are cozying up to socialism. Just last week, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries endorsed radical socialist Zohran Mamdani — the latest sign that the far left is in charge. That may play in Manhattan, but it’s electoral poison in middle America, where socialism is viewed negatively by 18 points while capitalism is favored by 12.
The numbers don’t lie: Republicans have the money, the message, and the momentum. Democrats are broke, divided, and losing the trust of the American people.
