Horsford’s Holiday Hoax: Congressman Peddles “Trump Slump” Lies While Black Friday Booms and His Anti-Worker Votes Blow Up in His Face

Democrats really have a knack for face-planting into their own talking points, and Rep. Steven Horsford just delivered a masterclass.

Yesterday, Horsford tried to dunk on “GOP economics,” claiming Americans were spending less thanks to Trump’s tariffs. Unfortunately for him, the actual numbers torched his narrative in real time.

According to CBS News, U.S. consumers didn’t just shop; they shattered records, spending $11.8 billion online on Black Friday, the most in American history.

But hey, why let facts ruin a perfectly good tweet? NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez wasn’t having it, firing back: “Try again, @StevenHorsford. Black Friday shattered records, and you’re still out here peddling fake news lies. If you actually cared about putting more money in Nevadans’ pockets, you wouldn’t have voted against ‘No Tax on Tips.’ #NV04.”

And that’s the real story here: Horsford’s sudden concern for Nevada workers only shows up when he’s on Twitter, never when he’s on the House floor.

This is the same Steven Horsford who:

  • Voted against “No Tax on Tips,” a wildly popular proposal that would give Nevada’s hospitality workers an immediate raise.
  • Trashed the historic Trump tax cuts that helped working families keep more of what they earned.
  • Opposed Republicans’ sweeping tax and domestic policy law, and then was caught celebrating the very provisions tucked inside that his own party admitted were wins for families.

In other words: Steven Horsford wants you to believe Trump tariffs are crushing Americans, but the only thing getting crushed is his credibility.

While Nevada workers rack up record holiday deals, Horsford is still selling political fiction and voting against every effort to put more money back into their pockets.

Nevadans deserve leaders who know the difference between economic reality and X narratives and who don’t attack tax cuts one minute only to brag about their benefits the next.
