BORDERLINE CRAZY: Horsford Sides With Ilhan Omar’s Plan to Defund ICE

Far-left Democrats are no longer dancing around the issue. Rep. Ilhan Omar announced this week that the Congressional Progressive Caucus has adopted an official position to defund Immigration and Customs Enforcement, declaring outright opposition to all funding for immigration enforcement.

“Our caucus members will oppose all funding for immigration enforcement,” Omar said — a blunt admission that confirms what Republicans have warned for years about Democrats’ border agenda.

The announcement came as progressive Democrats threatened to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security unless border enforcement is stripped out, including resources for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The move would effectively dismantle federal immigration enforcement at a time when border security remains a top concern for voters nationwide.

The decision also puts vulnerable Democrats on the record.

Nevada Rep. Steven Horsford is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, directly tying him to the group now openly pushing to abolish ICE and weaken border enforcement. Horsford’s alignment with the far-left caucus comes as Nevadans continue to grapple with the fallout of years of lax border policies, including strained resources and public safety concerns.

“Out of touch Democrats like Steven Horsford are committed to abolishing ICE, openly endorsing lawlessness and putting Nevada communities at risk to satisfy their radical base,” said National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Christian Martinez. “Faced with a choice, Horsford didn’t hesitate — he chose radical ideology over public safety.”

Republicans argue the announcement strips away any remaining ambiguity about where Democrats stand on border enforcement. While GOP lawmakers have pushed for stronger border security and enforcement of existing immigration laws, progressives are now making defunding ICE a litmus test within their party.

The issue is expected to loom large heading into November, particularly in battleground states like Nevada. With Democrats increasingly embracing positions once considered politically toxic, Republicans say voters will have a clear choice between enforcing the law or abandoning it altogether.
