Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman and a toddler in the south valley earlier this week. The incident occurred Monday night on the 11000 block of Victoria Medici Street, where officers discovered the victims inside an SUV after hearing gunfire during a nearby traffic stop. The victims, later identified as a woman in her 20s and a young child, were transported to University Medical Center where they both died from their injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the individual taken into custody or a specific motive for the shooting. However, investigators noted that the woman and child were reportedly related but were not mother and child. During the initial investigation, police canvassed the Terraza neighborhood and collected security footage from surrounding residences to track the movement of vehicles in the area. The arrest follows an intensive multi-day search by the LVMPD Homicide Section. Further details regarding the charges and the suspect’s identity are expected to be released following a formal booking process and initial court appearance.
