A motorized bike operator is fighting for their life following a high-impact collision with a passenger vehicle early Thursday morning in North Las Vegas. The accident, which occurred at the busy intersection of East Owens Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard North, triggered a massive police response and a multi-hour shutdown of one of the city’s primary transit arteries.

According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, the incident was reported during the peak morning commute. Arriving officers discovered the bike operator suffering from severe injuries; the individual was immediately transported to a local trauma center in critical condition. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is said to be cooperating with investigators.

The intersection remained closed well into the afternoon as the NLVPD’s Major Collision Investigation Unit processed the scene. While the specific cause of the crash remains under investigation, the incident has reignited local discussions regarding the safety and visibility of motorized bicycles on high-speed corridors. This latest accident adds to a mounting tally of vulnerable road-user incidents in the valley, which has already seen a record number of traffic fatalities in the first quarter of 2026.
