LAS VEGAS, NV — A tense, multi-hour barricade situation in the East Las Vegas Valley has concluded without further incident, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

The standoff began late Thursday night, April 16, near the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard. Officers initially responded to reports of an armed individual who had barricaded themselves inside a residential structure and refused to comply with police commands.

The Resolution

Throughout the night and into the early morning hours of today, Friday, April 17, specialized units—including SWAT and crisis negotiators—worked to bring the situation to a peaceful close. By mid-morning, authorities confirmed the perimeter had been broken down and the scene was safe for residents to return.

While the primary barricade has ended, Metro officials have issued the following guidance:

  • Ongoing Presence: Residents may notice lingering patrols and a continued police presence in the immediate neighborhood throughout the afternoon as the preliminary investigation concludes.

  • Traffic Restoration: All road closures at the Lake Mead/Hollywood interchange have been lifted, and normal traffic flow has resumed for the Friday lunch hour.

The identity of the individual involved and the specific charges they may face have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
