This morning, Governor Lombardo announced his endorsement of political outsider, musical composer Marty O’Donnell in the crowded GOP primary for Congressional District 3, held since 2019 by Rep. Susie Lee (D).
Lombardo cites O’Donnell’s unique skills and conservative credentials who will fight to grow the middle class, secure the border and “fight for our American values.” O’Donnell is represented by the consultants who led the Republican governor to victory in 2022.
His endorsement follows Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony’s endorsement in the primary race of tax analyst, government watchdog Drew Johnson.
Lombardo previously endorsed Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama (AD-2) in the congressional race until she suspended her bid and ran for reelection after a “candid conversation with Governor Lombardo.”
Yesterday, O’Donnell released his first campaign highlighting the 20 million illegal aliens that have crossed the U.S. southern border, noting that “big corporations are hiring illegals,” depressing wages and squeezing the middle class.
Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Lee has praised the Biden administration’s border record, claiming that the administration has cracked down on human smuggling and illegal immigration. In a May 17, 2023 interview with KSNV, Lee stated: “There has definitely been a crackdown by this administration, making sure that anyone who enters illegally is punished for that.”
Rep, Susie Lee secured her third victory in the swing district in 2022 with a margin of four percent and has amassed a $2.1 million war in her reelection bid. Lee’s GOP primary opponents include former Nevada Senator Elizabeth Helgelien, Drew Johnson, O’Donnell, and former State Treasurer Dan Schwartz.
