HOUSE ALWAYS WINS: Susie Lee’s Trust Cashed Out Before Casino Stock Cratered

As Southern Nevada hospitality workers lost jobs, hours and tips, Democrat Rep. Susie Lee’s trust was quietly unloading casino stocks and protecting her personal fortune from the wreckage.
A new report examining Lee’s financial disclosures found that her trust sold as much as $1 million in Full House Resorts stock just weeks before the company’s shares plunged approximately 25 percent. The timing potentially spared Lee’s trust roughly $300,000 in losses.
Full House Resorts is not some random company buried inside a faceless mutual fund. The casino operator is run by Lee’s ex-husband, Daniel Lee, giving the congresswoman’s financial connection to the company a deeply personal history.
Lee’s trust continued selling Full House Resorts shares as recently as this month, according to congressional disclosures. Transactions dated April 21, June 1 and July 1 each involved sales valued between $1,001 and $15,000.
Lee has said the sales are part of a post-divorce effort to move individual holdings into diversified investments. That explanation does not make the optics any less rotten for the Nevada workers watching their shifts disappear while their congresswoman’s trust headed for the cashier’s cage.
The contrast could hardly be uglier. Casino dealers, servers, housekeepers and bartenders were being sent home early, called in less frequently or left wondering whether their next paycheck would cover the rent. Lee’s financial machinery, meanwhile, was pulling chips off the table before the stock took a beating.
For years, Lee has marketed herself as an advocate for Nevada’s working families. Her portfolio appears to have received considerably more attentive service.
This is hardly Lee’s first brush with controversy involving Full House Resorts. During the pandemic, Lee pushed to expand federal Paycheck Protection Program eligibility for gaming companies. Full House Resorts later received millions of dollars in taxpayer-backed assistance while it was still run by her then-husband.
Now the same career politician who helped open Washington’s wallet for casino companies appears to have watched her own trust escape before a casino stock went over the cliff. Workers carried the losses. Crooked Susie carried the winnings.
The episode fits an increasingly familiar pattern for Lee, who previously failed to properly disclose more than 200 stock trades worth as much as $3.3 million. Her constituents get inflation, shrinking shifts and economic anxiety. Lee gets a sprawling portfolio, five-figure accessories and impeccable timing.
Nevada’s political realignment was built on working-class disgust with exactly this brand of gilded Washington hypocrisy. President Donald Trump carried the Silver State in 2024 because hospitality workers and middle-class families grew tired of politicians who campaign as their champions, govern for the well-connected and somehow ensure their own money lands safely every time.
“Crooked Susie Lee watched Nevada workers get crushed and made damn sure her own fortune was protected. Lee turned Congress into her personal casino: Nevadans get fleeced, she cashes out, and the crooked house always wins,” NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez said.
In Susie Lee’s Nevada, the workers lose their hours, families lose their financial security and the congresswoman’s trust slips out a side door before the crash. The game may be rigged, but at least Lee never seems to leave the table empty-handed.
