Nevada 2026 Primary Wrap Up: Big Names Advance for November Fights

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, June 12, 2026 10:48 am

Nevada voters showed up on June 9, and most major races are now wrapped with results mostly in. Here is the straight scoop from the Nevada Globe.

Governor delivered the expected rematch. Joe Lombardo crushed his GOP primary with about 91 percent. Aaron Ford took the Dem side around 64 percent. These two go at it again in November in what should be another nail-biter.

Congressional action heated up in CD2 the open seat. Trump backed David Flippo upset the establishment pick James Settelmeyer, roughly 47 to 35 percent for the Republican nomination. Teresa Benitez Thompson won the Democratic side. Flippo heads to a red-leaning district, but that primary exposed the Trump versus Lombardo divide.

Incumbents cruised elsewhere. Dina Titus and Susie Lee rolled on the Dem side in CD1 and CD3. They will face Republican challengers Carrie Buck and Marty O’Donnell in the fall. Steven Horsford had an easy path in CD4.

Attorney General features Nicole Cannizzaro advancing on the Dem side after beating Zach Conine. Adriana Guzmán Fralick took the GOP primary.

For State Treasurer, Tya Mathis Coleman dominated the Democratic primary with over 54 percent, beating Assemblymember Joe Dalia and others. The Republican side stayed too close to call overnight between Drew Johnson and Jeff Carter.

State Senate and Assembly primaries saw solid action across districts. Democrats are defending their majorities with several incumbents running unopposed or winning easily. A handful of competitive seats flipped nominees, but full district results continue settling in. Low turnout as always, yet the November 3 matchups are now mostly locked.

Reno mayor primary stays tight. Kate Marshall leads strongly while Kathleen Taylor and Eddie Lorton battle closely for that second spot to advance. A few ballots remain so keep watching.

Battleground Nevada keeps things interesting.
