Nevada Leads Nation in Job Growth Under Governor Joe Lombardo

While national Democrats continue warning about economic uncertainty, Nevada is quietly doing something few states can claim: leading the nation in job growth.
New labor data shows Nevada ranks first in America for year-over-year job growth, marking another milestone for Governor Joe Lombardo as he prepares for what is expected to be one of the most closely watched gubernatorial reelection campaigns in the country.
The numbers paint a picture of an economy that continues to gain momentum.
Private-sector employment has reached record highs. Construction projects are expanding throughout Southern Nevada. New businesses are opening. Tourism remains strong. Employers continue adding workers across multiple industries, including hospitality, manufacturing, logistics, health care, and skilled trades.
The latest figures are particularly significant because Nevada was among the states hit hardest by the economic shutdowns during the pandemic. Few economies in America were more exposed than Nevada’s, with the state’s gaming, tourism, hospitality, and entertainment industries facing unprecedented disruptions.
Today, the story looks very different.
Instead of leading the nation in unemployment, Nevada is leading the nation in job growth.
For Republicans, the turnaround is no accident.
Lombardo has consistently argued that economic growth starts with creating an environment where businesses can invest, expand, and hire. His administration has focused heavily on workforce development, economic diversification, attracting private investment, and keeping Nevada competitive with neighboring states.
The governor has also emphasized public safety and affordability as key economic issues, arguing that businesses are more likely to invest in communities where families feel safe and costs remain under control.
The strong jobs numbers arrive at a politically important moment.
Democrat Attorney General Aaron Ford is expected to make the economy a central focus of his campaign against Lombardo next year. But the governor’s allies believe the latest data makes that argument increasingly difficult.
Republicans are already framing the race as a choice between continued economic growth under Lombardo or a return to the policies that have driven residents and businesses out of neighboring states such as California.
The contrast extends beyond jobs.
Nevada Republicans point to recent gains in private-sector employment, business investment, workforce participation, and economic development projects as evidence that the state is moving in the right direction.
Meanwhile, they argue Democrats continue offering the same policies that produced inflation, higher energy costs, rising housing prices, and economic uncertainty nationwide.
The economic success is also becoming a broader political story.
Republicans have spent years trying to prove they can compete statewide in Nevada. President Donald Trump’s victory in Nevada in 2024 gave the GOP its first presidential win in the state in two decades. Since then, Republicans have continued gaining registered voters while Democrats have struggled to maintain their traditional advantages.
Strong economic performance only strengthens that momentum.
Voters may disagree on many issues, but jobs remain one of the most powerful political indicators in any election. When workers are finding jobs, businesses are hiring, and paychecks are growing, incumbents generally benefit.
That reality is likely to become a major theme of Lombardo’s reelection campaign.
The governor’s allies argue the formula is working.
Nevada is adding jobs. Businesses are investing. Workers are finding opportunities.
And while political fights dominate headlines in Washington, Nevada’s economy continues producing results. With the state now leading the nation in job growth, Republicans believe they have a simple message heading into 2026: Don’t change what’s working.
