OPINION: No Homes for Nevadans – Lombardo’s Housing Push: Shelter or Sham?

This is Part 7 of our 10-part series, “Lombardo’s Nevada Showdown: The Fight for 2026.”

The crunch: Affordability’s tanked, with rents soaring and federal lands locked up, hitting young families hard. Battle lines drawn as Lombardo’s 2025 initiatives for attainable housing, per his session statement on gov.nv.gov, clashed with enviro regs, failing some land transfers.

Build-out: He advanced rural development and vetoed overburdensome rules, as reported by other media in May 2025. Props for targeting working-class needs without endless subsidies, but to reelection-proof it, lobby Trump for more land releases, besting Ford’s equity talk with shovels in ground. Improve through zoning reforms.
