Titus, Lee, Horsford Vote Against DHS Funding as Terror Threats Rise

Radical Nevada Democrats Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford voted against funding the Department of Homeland Security.
The vote came at a moment when federal authorities say the United States faces credible threats tied to Iran and its terrorist proxies. The FBI has placed counterterror teams on heightened alert as tensions escalate following U.S. military strikes against Iran’s regime. Officials are monitoring potential retaliatory attacks on American soil.
Just days ago, those fears appeared closer to reality.
A gunman opened fire in Austin, wearing a shirt that read “Property of Allah,” leaving three people dead and 14 wounded in what authorities are investigating as a potential terror attack linked to extremist ideology. This is exactly the kind of moment when national leaders typically rally around protecting the homeland.
Instead, Nevada’s Democratic delegation voted the other way. Titus, Lee, and Horsford joined radical House Democrats in opposing funding for the very agency responsible for protecting America’s borders, preventing terror attacks, and coordinating federal homeland security operations.
The Department of Homeland Security oversees border protection, counterterrorism coordination, intelligence sharing, and disaster response. It is the front line of defense against threats both foreign and domestic. Yet Nevada Democrats decided that now was the time to vote no.
The decision comes after years of Democrats opposing tougher border enforcement, resisting stronger immigration controls, and criticizing expanded security authorities aimed at stopping terrorist networks.
With tensions rising abroad and federal investigators warning of potential retaliation, Republicans say the timing could not be worse.
NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez blasted the vote: “When it matters most, Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford always fold to their radical base at the expense of Nevadans. Republicans will always stand on the side of protecting Americans while Titus, Lee, Horsford, and radical House Democrats refuse to keep our homeland safe.”
The vote reinforces a growing divide in Washington. Republicans argue that in a dangerous world, the United States must project strength and ensure homeland security agencies have the resources they need to stop threats before they reach American communities.
Democrats increasingly frame those same security measures as political fights over immigration, spending, and executive authority. But for many voters, the debate is simpler.
When the FBI warns of terror threats, and investigators are probing deadly attacks tied to extremist ideology, the expectation is that leaders step up and secure the homeland.
Nevada’s Democratic delegation chose a different path.
