A Las Vegas Woman Is Facing Charges After She Was Detained for Driving a Stolen Vehicle and Evading Police
LAS VEGAS – Daisy Olivas, 35, drove over 90 mph, across cement medians, and on the wrong side of the road for 50 minutes while police tried to stop her on Sept. 17, the report said.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Air Support chopper spotted a stolen 2007 Chevrolet Silverado near Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards. Officers located the truck and gave updates to ground officers.
Officers tried to stop the truck near Carey Avenue and Pecos Road, but it “drove away at a fast rate of speed.”
According to the complaint, Olivas drove dangerously for 50 minutes, guiding other vehicles to avoid a collision.
After the car was pulled up on Carroll Street in North Las Vegas, Olivas attempted to flee on foot but was caught by police.
Olivas was also wanted for narcotics possession by Nevada Parole and Probation. The hearing is on September 27.
Police found missing internal parts and no key in the ignition of a running truck.
Olivas is charged with:
- Car theft
- Speeding
- Disobedient driver endangers others
Olivas’ preliminary hearing is Oct. 4, 2022.
