Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting at Vacant Apartment

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has taken 34-year-old Melvin Alexander into custody for his alleged involvement in the death of a man found shot in a vacant apartment on South Nellis Boulevard.
On August 15, 2024, officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered the victim in the 3000 block of South Nellis Boulevard. Following an investigation, Alexander was arrested on August 27 and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of murder with a deadly weapon.
Alexander made his initial court appearance today and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, September 3rd. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity and the official cause of death.
The LVMPD Homicide department is actively investigating the case and continues to gather evidence. FOX5 will provide updates as more information becomes available.
