LAS VEGAS, NV — Undefeated multi-division boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. is facing two severe felony charges in Clark County following allegations that he utilized a fraudulent check to acquire a luxury timepiece from a high-end resale boutique on the Las Vegas Strip corridor.

According to unsealed criminal complaints filed by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, the 49-year-old former world champion faces one count of grand theft of property valued at $100,000 or greater and one count of drawing and passing a check without sufficient funds with the intent to defraud.

The Luxury Watch Transaction

The felony prosecution stems from an upscale commercial transaction executed at Gold and Beyond, a prominent designer resale boutique located along the West Sahara Avenue retail corridor.

Court documents allege that Mayweather issued a $200,000 check drawn from a Wells Fargo Bank account to finalize the purchase of a rare, high-end Audemars Piguet watch. Financial tracking audits subsequently conducted by investigators revealed that Mayweather’s account possessed insufficient funds to clear the multi-hundred-thousand-dollar balance, and allegations claim he obtained the asset while knowing the transaction would not be honored by the financial institution.

Delayed Criminal Posture and Prison Exposure

Marc Cook, an elite civil attorney representing Gold and Beyond, revealed that the luxury retailer initially attempted to resolve the massive financial deficit privately rather than involving local law enforcement.

“The reason for the delay is that my client trusted Mayweather and was trying to give him every opportunity to make good on that,” Cook stated. “It got to the point where he wasn’t getting responses and wasn’t getting money for a watch that Mayweather had for well over a year. My client attempted to go through every avenue possible but got systematically ignored.”

Mayweather was scheduled for a mandatory initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court. While the fighter skipped his personal physical appearance at the Regional Justice Center, a retained criminal defense attorney appeared on his behalf to manage the initial docket. Under Nevada statutory guidelines, the felony grand theft charge carries a severe maximum penalty of up to 20 years in a state penitentiary. The case has been officially scheduled for a formal evidentiary hearing this September.
