The City of Henderson has announced a major upgrade for its Animal Protection Services facility, committing up to $7 million to expand and modernize shelter operations. Included in the plan are new and upgraded dog kennels, shaded adoption areas, expanded medical space, and a detached office building for staff, as well as additional parking. Officials say the renovations, which stem from a third-party facility analysis and volunteer feedback, aim to improve care for animals and operational efficiency.
Construction is currently in the design phase, and timelines have yet to be finalized. The city noted that more than $600,000 in facility improvements have already been completed since 2023, as animal services in Southern Nevada continue to face growing demand.
