A devastating crash on Nevada’s SR163 near Laughlin has once again highlighted the lethal consequences of impaired driving and the critical importance of personal responsibility on our roads. On April 27, 2025, a 2005 Dodge Durango carrying ten individuals, including several children, veered off the road, overturned, and ejected multiple unrestrained passengers. The driver, 31-year-old Thomas Bernoudy of Las Vegas, was found to have marijuana in his system. He now faces multiple charges, including DUI resulting in death, reckless driving, child neglect, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
This incident resulted in the death of 31-year-old Tierra Haywood, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other passengers sustained injuries, with their current conditions unknown. Bernoudy is being held on $100,000 bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for May 22.
This tragedy underscores the need for stricter enforcement of DUI laws and greater public awareness about the dangers of impaired driving. It’s a stark reminder that one person’s irresponsible choice can have devastating consequences for many.
