East Las Vegas Man Ambushed, Shot Dead in Driveway; Neighbor Booked on Murder Charges

LAS VEGAS, NV — A 25-year-old man is behind bars facing open murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing his neighbor in a quiet residential cul-de-sac in east Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed.

The suspect, identified by police as Alexain Rodriguez-Navar, 25, was taken into custody at the scene Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) on felony charges including open murder with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Late Afternoon Ambush on Pavot Court

According to preliminary findings released by Metro’s Homicide Section and reported by the Las Vegas Sun, emergency dispatchers were flooded with 911 calls reporting multiple gunshots at approximately 4:44 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Patrol officers dispatched to the 5700 block of Pavot Court arrived to find an adult male lying unresponsive in his front yard suffering from catastrophic gunshot wounds.

Paramedics from the Clark County Fire Department responded within minutes to render emergency aid, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators established that the victim had just driven home and pulled into his private driveway.

As the man opened his vehicle door and stepped out into his driveway, Rodriguez-Navar—who resided in the adjacent home—allegedly confronted him and fired multiple rounds at close range.

Prohibited Person Booked as Motive Investigated

Responding patrol officers quickly locked down the cul-de-sac and took Rodriguez-Navar into custody without incident as he remained in the immediate vicinity of the property.

Homicide detectives worked through Tuesday night executing search warrants on the suspect’s residence to recover the firearm and review private home security surveillance feeds capturing the driveway.
