Economic Watch: Las Vegas Gas Prices Projected to Rise This Week

LAS VEGAS — Commuters in Southern Nevada are being advised to fuel up sooner rather than later as local gas prices are projected to begin a steady climb. According to data released Monday morning, the average price for regular unleaded in the Las Vegas Valley currently sits at $3.38 per gallon, but industry experts warn that the annual transition from winter to summer fuel blends is officially beginning.
Patrick De Haan, lead petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, stated this morning that prices likely “bottomed out” last week. With spring tourism approaching and the mandated shift to more expensive summer-grade gasoline, local stations are expected to see a 10- to 15-cent hike by the end of the week. This seasonal trend is expected to push the valley’s average closer to the $4.00 mark by early April.
