Gov. Lombardo Blasts Sen. Rosen as Shutdown Enters Week 4: “Do Your Job”

As the federal shutdown drags into a fourth week, Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo is publicly pressing Sen. Jacky Rosen to do more than issue statements and actually help break the stalemate in Washington. Lombardo said Nevadans are living with the consequences while Congress refuses to compromise, and he placed the responsibility on Rosen — a Democrat aligned with the Senate majority — to help end the gridlock.
The shutdown has slowed or halted major federal functions, affecting families, small businesses, veterans waiting on services, and workers who aren’t being paid while elected officials continue to draw salaries. Lombardo argued that while the White House and Democrats blame Republicans, they refuse to negotiate on spending or border security — the same issues that triggered the shutdown in the first place.
Rosen’s office has insisted she supports reopening the government. But critics say statements mean nothing without action, especially from a senator who routinely votes with her party leadership. The governor urged Nevada’s federal delegation to put constituents over party loyalty, warning that the longer this continues, the bigger the damage for Nevada’s economy.
The larger question: Will Nevada’s Democratic leadership help make a deal, or allow the shutdown to continue while blaming others?
