Las Vegas Father Who Imprisoned Children in Cage Challenges Length of Prison Sentence
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, December 17, 2025 10:16 am
A Las Vegas man convicted for the severe abuse and confinement of his children appeared in court on Tuesday to contest the duration of his prison sentence. Travis Doss, who previously entered a guilty plea for several counts of child abuse and neglect, stated before a judge that the sentence he initially accepted as part of a legal agreement is too harsh. The case gained significant attention after investigators discovered that Doss had subjected his children to extreme physical maltreatment, including locking at least two of them inside a dog cage for extended periods. Doss now seeks a reduction in his time behind glass, arguing that the terms of the settlement do not accurately reflect the circumstances of the case. The court is currently reviewing the motion to determine if the existing sentencing guidelines were appropriately applied or if a modification is warranted under Nevada law.
