LAS VEGAS – A 40-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed in a hit-and-run, and police have arrested the suspect in the case.
The Las Vegas police department reports that on Monday, September 5th, they arrested 31-year-old Zahrai Mendez-Amador for hit-and-run.
The incident happened on Friday, September 2 at 10:54 p.m. on East Cheyenne Avenue and Queen Street, close to the Pecos neighborhood.
The unnamed 40-year-old female pedestrian was allegedly struck by Mendez-2018 Amador’s Chevrolet Equinox while she was crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk.
Tragically, despite the best efforts of the medics on the spot, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the site.
According to the announcement, Mendez-Amador was arrested and lodged in the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of fleeing the scene without first ensuring the pedestrian’s safety.
