Laughlin Pedestrian Fatality Marks 40th Traffic Death of 2026

LAUGHLIN, NV — A weekend collision in Laughlin has tragically become the 40th traffic-related fatality within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction this year.
The Incident
According to LVMPD investigators, the accident occurred on Sunday, April 19, at 1:09 p.m. at the intersection of South Casino Drive and Tropicana Drive. Evidence indicates that an 82-year-old male pedestrian from Roselle, Illinois, was crossing South Casino Drive outside of a marked crosswalk when he entered the path of a southbound 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Emergency Response
The front right of the Jeep struck the pedestrian, who was then transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
The driver of the Jeep, an 80-year-old male from Golden Valley, Arizona, remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. The investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section remains ongoing.
