Man Pleads Guilty to Fraudulent Boarding Pass Entry and Assaulting TSA Officers at Harry Reid International Airport

LAS VEGAS, NV — A federal prosecution involving a severe security breach and physical altercation inside a secure checkpoint at Harry Reid International Airport has culminated in a definitive guilty plea in federal court.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah announced that Jhon Raul Vizcaino Ramirez, a Cuban national, entered a formal guilty plea before a federal magistrate in Las Vegas, resolving felony charges stemming from an unlawful terminal breach and subsequent assault on federal transportation security personnel.

The Checkpoint Breach and Assault

The federal criminal complaint outlines a highly volatile security failure that unfolded within the Terminal 1 passenger screening matrix. According to court records, Ramirez systematically bypassed initial document verification protocols by presenting a fraudulent boarding pass issued under another individual’s legal identity.

Upon successfully penetrating the secure passenger screening corridor without valid authorization, Ramirez was quickly intercepted by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers executing secondary security audits. When federal personnel attempted to detain Ramirez for administrative questioning, the interaction rapidly escalated into physical violence. Ramirez actively resisted containment, launching a physical assault against multiple TSA officers before being subdued by responding Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department airport detail units.

Immigration Status and Federal Sentencing Schedule

Federal prosecutors confirmed that Ramirez possesses an irregular immigration footprint, having originally entered the United States unlawfully near Yuma, Arizona, in 2022. Following his arrest at the airport, the Department of Homeland Security placed an administrative immigration detainer on the suspect to prevent his release into the local community during the life of the judicial proceedings.

Chief U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon has officially accepted the negotiated plea agreement and scheduled a formal sentencing hearing for September 10, 2026. Under applicable federal statutory guidelines, Ramirez faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in a federal penitentiary, alongside significant monetary fines.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that upon the completion of his ordered federal prison term, Ramirez will be immediately remanded to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to undergo formal deportation and removal proceedings from the United States.
