Emmitt’s Vegas, the steakhouse launched by NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith at the Fashion Show mall, has abruptly closed after reportedly failing to pay over $400,000 in rent. Landlord Brookfield Properties posted a notice on the venue’s doors stating that locks were changed and that Emmitt’s owed $407,730.88 in delinquent rent.
The restaurant first opened in February 2024 after years of development delays. Even before opening, it faced legal disagreements including a lawsuit involving its original executive chef. During its short tenure, Emmitt’s offered a menu featuring large steak cuts like 40-ounce tomahawks, seafood, sushi rolls, and a raw bar.
In a brief statement, Clarkway Entertainment, the management group, confirmed the closure and said they are evaluating their next steps. “We regret to confirm that Emmitt’s Vegas is currently closed … as we carefully evaluate the best path forward for the restaurant,” the statement said.
