LAS VEGAS – A tragic incident occurred in northwest Las Vegas on Friday evening, resulting in the death of a woman who fell out of a pickup truck that continued to drive away. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was a Las Vegas resident, but her identity has not yet been disclosed.
The incident took place at around 7:12 p.m. when the police received a call about an injured woman lying on the road on Saylor Way near Glen Eagles Lane. The victim had apparently opened the passenger door of a moving white 2022 Toyota Tacoma for unknown reasons, according to the witnesses’ statements and evidence found at the scene.
The woman fell onto the road and tumbled beneath a parked vehicle just south of Vegas Drive near Jones Boulevard. Despite attempts to save her, emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
The pickup driver briefly stopped the vehicle before continuing northbound on Saylor. Two occupants of the pickup returned to the scene but left again shortly afterward, detectives said.
The incident is being treated as a passenger alighting from a vehicle hit-and-run and is currently under investigation. This marks the 28th traffic fatality in the department’s jurisdiction this year.
