LAS VEGAS, NV — Traffic collision detectives are actively hunting for a dark-colored SUV that fled the scene after striking and killing an impaired or stumbling pedestrian in the northwest valley early Monday morning.

The tragic incident pushes the valley’s mounting traffic death toll to a grim milestone for the calendar year.

The Midnight Impact on Craig Road

According to official collision investigation data unsealed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, patrol units and emergency medical squads rushed to the intersection of West Craig Road and North Jones Boulevard at approximately 12:37 AM following frantic emergency calls.

Evidence collected from the asphalt indicates that an adult male pedestrian was attempting to cross West Craig Road from south to north outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. Traffic cameras and witness statements revealed that the man stumbled several times before losing his balance entirely and falling flat onto the travel lanes. Moments later, an unknown dark-colored SUV traveling eastbound down Craig Road struck the fallen pedestrian and sped away without breaking or stopping to render aid.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office is currently processing the case to verify the identity of the male victim and notify next of kin.
