London, UK –  In a moving video message, Kate, the Princess of Wales, announced today that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

The 42-year-old royal revealed that while her abdominal surgery in January was successful, tests afterward found “cancer had been present.” She is now in the “early stages” of preventative chemotherapy.

“This of course came as a huge shock,” the Princess said, “and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

The Princess did not specify the type of cancer but requested “time, space and privacy” while she undergoes treatment.

Weeks of Speculation Followed Absence

Kate’s absence from public appearances since her surgery sparked media scrutiny and rumors about her health. A photo released on Mother’s Day in an attempt to quell speculation was later retracted due to editing. The Princess apologized for the confusion.

King Charles III Also Battling Cancer

In a statement from Buckingham Palace, King Charles III expressed his “pride in Catherine for her courage” and revealed his own recent cancer diagnosis. The King underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate in January and is also receiving unspecified cancer treatment.

Focus on Recovery and Family

The Princess emphasized her commitment to recovery, stating, “I am well and getting stronger every day.” She also thanked her family, medical team, and the public for their support.

Privacy Requested During Treatment

The Palace requested understanding from the public as the Princess focuses on her treatment and family. Kate expressed hope to return to her royal duties eventually but stressed the importance of a full recovery.

Message of Hope for Others

The Princess concluded her message by acknowledging those battling cancer and offered words of encouragement: “For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
