LAS VEGAS, NV — One man is dead and another remains in police custody following an early morning shooting in a central valley strip mall parking lot on Monday, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The Maryland Parkway Altercation
The incident unfolded around 4:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2026, when multiple citizens placed frantic 911 calls to emergency dispatchers to report active gunfire in the 4100 block of South Maryland Parkway, near East Flamingo Road.
Responding patrol units swarmed the commercial shopping plaza and discovered an adult male victim lying on the asphalt suffering from multiple critical gunshot wounds. Medical personnel rushed the unresponsive victim to the trauma unit at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Suspect Apprehended at the Scene
The alleged shooter did not attempt to flee the area and was taken into custody by arriving officers directly at the scene without further incident.
LVMPD Homicide Bureau Lt. Robert Price stated that detectives believe the two men were roommates who were visiting a nearby commercial business prior to the violence. Upon exiting into the parking lot layout, an intense verbal argument escalated into a physical fight, culminating in one of the men brandishing a firearm and shooting the other.
While the exact nature of the roommate dispute remains under investigation, detectives confirmed there are no outstanding suspects. The identity of the deceased, along with the official cause and manner of death, will be formally released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending family notification.
