LAS VEGAS, NV — The Southern Nevada landscape is shifting this weekend as Spirit Airlines officially shuttered its Las Vegas operations this morning, marking the end of a 34-year presence at Harry Reid International Airport. Simultaneously, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are spread thin across multiple active crime scenes following a fatal pedestrian crash and a downtown hit-and-run.
Aviation: The Exit of Spirit Airlines
Spirit Airlines has officially ceased all operations in the Las Vegas market as of May 2, 2026.
