LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – Every year, families around southern Nevada look forward to an unique calendar.
The “Happy Times” calendar has artwork created by local children ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade.
Nate Tannenbaum hosted the big unveiling of the 2023 calendar at a Silver State Schools Credit Union event on the UNLV campus Monday evening.
The children who made each item in the calendar were introduced one by one, together with their individual art professors, and their original work was beautifully framed for them to take home.
The credit union also collaborated with the UNLV College of Education on the event, which included hors d’oeuvres and a live Facebook feed.
This is the 37th annual Happy Times calendar. And a new record was set for the number of items entered in the competition: almost 3,000! The judges’ arduous duty was made a little easier by the fact that five runners-up were also recognized during the ceremony.
The calendars are being offered for $2 at Silver State Schools Credit Union offices, with all earnings benefiting their “People Over Profits” Foundation, which focuses on education and financial literacy.
