Queen Elizabeth II, who ruled for 70 years, passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The 96-year-old monarch’s current health problems were reported by Buckingham Palace.
She became the youngest and longest-reigning British monarch at the age of 25. For many in this valley, the Queen’s death was personal.
Richard Sheffield wandered about his store with a heavy heart that day as he mourned the loss of a loved one.
Sheffield says, “The Queen has always been there in my family, my mother, and my grandparents’ life.”
He can’t believe the queen his family revered has passed away at age 96. The Queen’s accession to the throne in 1952 was a memorable event for Sheffield, whose mother was born in England.
Sheffield revealed, “I have coronation cups from when she was coronated and when her father was coronated.”
Sheffield, proud of his British heritage, set up shop in this valley ten years ago.
