LAS VEGAS, NV — Federal law enforcement authorities have unsealed criminal complaints at the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse targeting three local residents discovered during a coordinated regional interior enforcement operation.

The defendants—identified as Rodolfo Campillo-Castro, Carlos Lopez-Orozco, and Hugo Astorga-Nunez—were officially remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following their initial appearances before a federal magistrate.

Prior Felony Drug Convictions

According to formal charging affidavits filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, all three individuals are citizens of Mexico who had been previously removed from the United States by immigration authorities.

Federal prosecutors noted that the defendants possess active criminal histories within the state of Nevada, including prior localized felony convictions for the distribution and trafficking of controlled substances. Their subsequent unauthorized returns to the Las Vegas valley prompted a joint investigation by regional federal task forces and federal immigration tracking units.

The Upcoming Preliminary Grid

The trio faces severe federal felony charges of illegal reentry by a deported alien. If convicted under federal sentencing guidelines, the individuals face mandatory federal prison terms before being remanded back to federal immigration authorities for formal deportation protocols.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel Albregts presided over the initial arraignment hearings on Tuesday afternoon, denying bail options based on flight risk profiles and the severity of the prior narcotics distribution offenses. The court has locked in mandatory preliminary evidentiary hearings for all three defendants on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
