North Las Vegas, NV – A young boy, only five years old, was killed on Friday morning when he was hit by a car.
The tragic collision occurred at approximately 7:50 a.m. in the 4600 block of Losee Road, situated between Craig and Lone Mountain roads, as reported by the North Las Vegas Police Department.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the young boy had exited the rear driver’s side of a vehicle that was part of a line dropping off children at school. In a moment of unfortunate timing, he ran across a driveway just as a work van was manoeuvring around the stopped vehicles, resulting in a collision with the child.
Emergency responders swiftly transported the injured child to University Medical Center Trauma. Tragically, despite their best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the van involved in the incident remained at the scene and fully cooperates with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have confirmed that there is no suspicion of impairment on the part of the van’s driver.
The Clark County coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased, as well as details regarding the cause and manner of death, as the investigation progresses.
