Wildfire Threatens Property in Northeastern Nevada

A wildfire burning in northeastern Nevada has grown to 1,100 acres as of Monday, posing a potential threat to private property, according to public land managers.

The North Creek Fire, first reported around 4:25 pm Sunday south of Lages Junction (roughly 50 miles northeast of Ely), is burning in challenging terrain.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Bureau of Land Management (BLM) crews from Elko, Ely, and Southern Nevada districts are battling the blaze alongside personnel from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Ely Ranger District, Nevada Division of Forestry, and private contractors.

Officials anticipate record-breaking temperatures and low humidity over the next few days, significantly elevating fire danger.

Residents are urged to avoid North Spring Valley Road for the foreseeable future.
